Healthy Eating

Healthy eating helps manage and maintain body weight and reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. Healthy eating also boosts immunity, increases energy, and supports bones and muscles. In order to eat healthy, food must be affordable, easily accessible, and taste good.

Here’s how North Ridgeville Heart & Sole is working to make healthy food accessible in our community:

  • Between August and September, Heart & Sole partners with two North Ridgeville produce stands to offer $12 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables. All money collected goes back to the produce stands. Community members can reserve and purchase a produce bags.

We also partner with two local workplaces, R.W. Beckett and Riddell. Both workplaces provide the opportunity for employees to reserve and purchase a bag.

  • Heart & Sole and North Ridgeville Branch Library partnered to purchase a Charlie Cart. A Charlie Cart is a mobile kitchen on wheels! Each month, the library hosts free cooking classes and demonstrations for residents to learn a new recipe or practice their kitchen skills.

  • Heart & Sole partners with North Ridgeville City Schools to add healthy concession stand options at our sporting events while keeping price points affordable.
